huey&wah café at Bellisa Row, Burmah Road, Penang

So many cafes in Penang it's really crazy to keep up.

It's like new cafe opens up every two weeks in Penang or something.

This cafe that we went to on one of the nights was known to us when they first opened in Straits Quay. A small little shop along the outside of the mall.

Then, they moved to Bellisa Row and boy, they are huge. Huge compared to the one they have in Straits Quay.

All we knew of this cafe was that they serve chocolates. We have no idea where that impression came from. No idea.

We went in with a group of friends and toured the shop around before we placed our order to which was recommended by the staffs :)

Two storeys :)

Upstairs with beanie bags :)

Order & pay at the counter then your drinks/food will be delivered to your table.

A range of flavored marshmallows for you to bring home when you give money. Heh.
Vanilla, lemon, chocolate, passion fruit, rose, espresso and stout.
Price range from RM11.90 to RM18.90

 Cakes with marshmallows.

Frozen Yogurt Popsicle with marshmallow bits :)

Kopi-o with 2 cubes marshmallows (flavors of your choice) - RM6.50
Ours were stout and chocolate flavored :)
He says: Unique really. The coffee itself is nice! Then, then sweetness that the marshmallows offers when it melts is perfect. Should give this a try!
She says: I knew for sure it won't taste good! For sure! Cos I DO NOT like marshmallows unless it's over the fire for a while and melted a bit inside. That also, I only take one cos it's way too sweet as a candy kind. This kopi-o however makes the perfect combo with marshmallows. It's insane! They leave the cubes in there then it started to melt. So, I took a small sip and fell in love with it immediately! Kopi-o no sugar so the marshmallows became the sweet element in there and it tasted perfecttt! LOVE THIS ONE!

Bottle Lemonade
He says: Refreshing!
She says: Sweet and very refreshing. Okay, amybe a bit too sweet for me.

Frozen Yogurt Popsicle (Passion Fruit)
He says: Not a big fan of yogurt but a big fan of passion fruit! Kinda like it..
She says: I like the surprise element in it. The chunky bits of marshmallows! Sorry, no more surprise for you anymore since you are still reading this. Heh. Like this one.

The Safe Room at Campbell Street, Penang

The night was still young and we wanted to go somewhere. We heard of this place from friends and how they make their ice cream with liquid nitrogen gas. Since we have never tasted such ice cream before, why not go give it a try.

Not sure if it's super crowded that night because it was a weekend or because it was newly opened. Either way, the place is quite small to cater for big group of friends.

Actually, the place is quite spacious. Maybe they could re-arrange and put more tables and chairs. Just saying.

We waited at the front counter where you place your orders and pay for seats to be available. Soon after that, we got a place and made our order.

One thing we really love about this place is they really do serve their ice cream with fresh fruits. Coconut is their signature, so that's a must try, right?

Busy night.

Their safe room with love locks all around.

Stood there for a good 15 minutes and watch how they do it.

Coconut Nitro Ice Cream - RM13.90
He says: Creative! I love it.. alternative for coconut ice cream! Haha.. Should try!
She says: I like that they use the fresh ingredients to do their ice creams whether its coconut or strawberries or mango, pineapples and the list goes on. So, that's a bonus point. The must try is coconut and it's yummy. Tasted like coconut ice cream, no biggie. A little too overpriced for me.

Butterscotch Caffe Latte - RM9.90
He says: Not bad not bad. Could be thicker though.
She says: Butterscotch latte, love it. Not overly sweet. Quite difficult to hold the glass though when it's hot.

Sri Tanjung Tomyam Seafood at Tanjung Tokong, Penang

Malay food! Ahhh, no doubt malay food is one of our favorite kind of food. It's not only cheap but also really yummy. We found this place through a friend and also her parents recommending its tomyam soup and other dishes.

We went there once and the place immediately became our Sunday-Dinner-Place. Almost without fail, we';ll always have our dinner on Sunday here.

The only boohoo-thing is that there is no fan and it could get really hot there. Imagine sweating already and having their signature tomyam soup sumore, wala.

This one can almost become our 'budget-ly romantic' category but I think it's too hot to put it into that group.

Oh oh! There is also one satay stall that sells really good beef and chicken satay! That will be on another entry for sure!

They have western food and burgers on weekdays too :)

Quite limited space.

Koay Teow Basah
He says: Served hot and spicy. One of the best koay teow basah that I had taken. Thumbs up!
She says: The wetter it is, the better. Afterall, it is called koay teow basah. This one quite nice.

Bee Hoon Kungfu
(Deep fried bee hoon with thick gravy)
He says: My favourite dish in Malay stalls! However, this one somehow does not have that kick this dish usually have. Nevertheless, recommended!
She says: I didn't even know there's such a dish. I must say I was impressed! Love the gravy. It's a little spicy. Almost like char hor fun but better! The deep fried beehoon not so much but very special. Must try!

Sayur Campur
He says: Not bad but could be better!
She says: Quite a normal dish. Yummy and simple.

Kangkung Belachan
He says: Its a little bit to wet I would say. Just so so.
She says: Okaylah.

Kailan with Ikan Masin
He says: Good. Smells good tastes good!
She says: Love this one.

Ayam Padkaprau
He says: AHA! Good stuff.. If you like hot and spicy dish, you would love this. Not only that, the fragrance of the basil leave would give you a twist in your mouth.
She says: Very similar to a Thai dish that has basil leaves in them. Super yummy. I love this one.

Deep Fried Squid
He says: The hard to go wrong dish :)
She says: Too much flour I feel.

Hana Cafe at Tanjung Bungah, Penang

A friend was telling us about this new place at Tanjung Bungah and seems like a very nice place to hang out. Located directly opposite of Dalat International School.

It was after a superb dinner and we just wanted to chill somewhere nice. Some of us ordered coffee, iced chocolates and sky juice. We decided to give their scones a try.

She is not a big fan of scones. He err.. doesn't know whether he likes scones or not in general. He just.. eats whatever is edible?

Then, another friend ordered nachos with dip. We love the place because it's quite quiet and it was quite cooling that night.

Quite funny we go cafe but we never order coffee. Hmm.. Maybe next time.

Homemade scones served warm, with butter and strawberry jam.
He says: Pretty good.. prefer it with only butter though as the butter melts as the scones is still hot.
She says: I have never tasted warm scones before. The ones I used to eat were all cold and hard. This one I LOVE! Very clever to spread the butter while it was still warm. Combine with jam, best gilerr.

Nachos with dip.
He says: Could be better! Just okay..
She says: It's not bad. It's quite a typical nachos dish. Probably tasted better dip elsewhere.

Keat Claypot Bak Kut Teh at Kampung Bahru, Air Itam, Penang

Bak Kut Teh!

This time, to the place that has been there for the longest time. We can both remember when we used to go with our parents.

Oh, how she loves herbal soup. He? Not that much..

For the night birds..

Crime scene..

It's place where, if you tell people that, "The bak kut teh, walk down the stairs wan..", people will know. The locals that area for sure know.

Bak Kut Teh for 2 persons
He says: Decent bah kut teh but could be better.
She says: The most important element for bak kut teh is undoubtedly the soup. First spoonful and I didn't like it. Too watery, hardly any herbal taste. Also, the portion was more to 1 person, instead of 2. I think can be improved lah.

Steamed vegetable with meat floss (bak hu)
He says: This dish could hardly go wrong! I guess the bak hu rocks them all.
She says: Typical dish.

Deep fried beancurd (tauhu) with thai chilli sauce
He says: Like the sauce but the beancurd is neither crunchy nor hot.
She says: Tauhu, very cold and hard. Sauce is yummy with the cucumbers and onions.
