Jojo Little Kitchen at Jalan SS2/162, Damansara Uptown at Petaling Jaya.

Hola! We're back! After such a loooooong time never hear from us, you must be excited to see that we're finally back!

This time it's going to be one of the things that we ate in KL when we were there for a short holiday!

We always hear people say that KL's food not nice one and so expensive sumore. Right?

WRONG! Actually KL has a lot of nice food that's affordable (we say affordable because their portion is huge!). We just need to know where to find them. There are so many ways to find out about where is nice to eat lah and stuff, regardless of wherever you go, be it KL or overseas.

You can always read food blogs like ours *ahemahem* or you can always ask a friend who stays there for a while already. They will know better, don't you think?

Anyways, we were brought to this place by his sister and her boyfriend for lunch. We were excited to give it a try. At least she is because she's quite a big fan of pan mee.

Pandan Cincau - RM3.50
He says: Pretty good for me. Refreshing!
She says: Got pandan flavor meh?

Lat Jiu (Chilli) Pan Mee (Dry) - RM7
He says: The mixture of all that is delicious, everything in there compliments each other. The texture of the pan mee is just nice, neither too hard nor too soft. Good!
She says: This I like! Mix everything including the egg yolk and you'll get yourself a wonderfully challenging meal! If you can't really take spicy food, don't mix all the chilli. Add some first if not you sure will be needing a whole box of tissue! Love this!

Traditional Pan Mee (Soup) - RM6.50
He says: Its not bad. Soup is pretty sweet though =)
She says: Quite an ordinary soup pan mee. Nothing really special to shout about!

Foo Kooi Mee at Padang Brown Hawker Centre along Johor Road, Penang

Another hawker place that we often visit when we can't settle for the same thing that we want to eat. Sometimes I wanna eat western food and he wants mamak. So, when face with this kind of situation, straight say, 'Eat at Padang lah!' sure no problem liau.

Nowadays, she loves going there for a quick inexpensive dinner because of this dish *looks below*

It's called Foo Kooi Mee but really in our local language, it's Lam Mee. The soup has to have sweet taste to it then only nice.

She orders that everytime we go there! EVERYTIME. Sure won't miss eh.

One of the humble stalls at the Padang Brown's Hawker Centre.

Foo Kooi Mee,  only RM3.50

Dinner by the garden, romantic also mah.

Foo Kooi Mee (RM3.50)
Topped with freshly chopped coriander.
He says: Lam mee? Definitely tastes like one for me. Haha. Decent!
She says: Must have when dine at Padang Brown! MUST HAVE! I especially love it because of the coriander. It gives a very nice taste to the soup and the flavour just lingers in the mouth when you're eating it. Coriander memang best. The soup isn't too sweet and the sambal compliments the dish. Yumms.

Ah Lai Kopitiam (Under The Tree) at Gat Lebuh Gereja, Penang

Summer this year is crazily hot. All year long of summer and these few months has got to be the hottest time ever recorded or something.

We realized that we are constantly looking for water or fruits or shaded place or a place to eat with air-con!

Then, we heard about this place that has the perfect shade under a big tree, along Penang's jam-mest main street during working hours. That's right. The Beach Street area where all the banking business are located. This area is usually packed with vehicles and humans. Go during lunch hours and you can literally break into tears, just waiting in the car. Haha. Okaylah, I exaggerated a bit lah.

Anyways, there was one day when we were both were seeing client around that area and decided to try this place out. It's famous for it's iced coffee and other kind of foods.

And we all need iced coffee on a hot day. DEFINITELY.

It was quite cooling to be sitting under the tree. Try not to sit in the shop as it's really hot in there.

Iced Coffee Special - RM2
He says: Special it is! Would come back for this =)
She says: One of the best I've had so far. LOVE IT! One glass not enough!

Maggi Mee Tomyam flavour - RM5
He says: Just a normal maggie mee for me.. Could be better!
She says: It's quite inconsistent. This is my second time and it tasted bad compared to the first time when I tried this, which was like 2 weeks ago. They should put less water so that the soup's taste is stronger and has more "ooopmh" to it.

Maggi Mee Curry flavour - RM5
He says: Soup isnt power enough but it pretty okay. Not baddddd..
She says: It's alright. Very expensive for something that we can just cook at home. For those lazy to cook but wants to eat maggi mee, can come here.

Roti Special (inside: sausage, egg and cheese) - RM5
He says: The bread is really crunchy! Love it.. Slightly pricey though.. recommended!
She says: It's quite a normal sandwich but one thing that's different is the bread. really thin and crunchy. A bit too expensive I feel because it's just one sausage with egg and cheese. The portion is really small.

Keat Claypot Bak Kut Teh at Kampung Bahru, Air Itam, Penang

Bak Kut Teh!

This time, to the place that has been there for the longest time. We can both remember when we used to go with our parents.

Oh, how she loves herbal soup. He? Not that much..

For the night birds..

Crime scene..

It's place where, if you tell people that, "The bak kut teh, walk down the stairs wan..", people will know. The locals that area for sure know.

Bak Kut Teh for 2 persons
He says: Decent bah kut teh but could be better.
She says: The most important element for bak kut teh is undoubtedly the soup. First spoonful and I didn't like it. Too watery, hardly any herbal taste. Also, the portion was more to 1 person, instead of 2. I think can be improved lah.

Steamed vegetable with meat floss (bak hu)
He says: This dish could hardly go wrong! I guess the bak hu rocks them all.
She says: Typical dish.

Deep fried beancurd (tauhu) with thai chilli sauce
He says: Like the sauce but the beancurd is neither crunchy nor hot.
She says: Tauhu, very cold and hard. Sauce is yummy with the cucumbers and onions.

Roti Babi at Chu Chang Kar along Lengkok Burma, Penang

By now, you all can tell already that it's almost impossible for the both of us to NOT order side dishes whenever we dine together. IMPOSSIBLE.

On one of the weekdays, we went for lunch somewhere further than where our offices were at. Always eating around that area also sien d.

I don't think this place has any name to it, except by its locally known name, "Chu Chang Kar"!

There are a lot of hawker stalls that area and it's very confortable to be dining there because it feels very cozy, being under lots of trees, hence the name Chu Chang Kar.

Roti babi (Minced Pork Bread) - RM3.80
He says: Just so so but the sauce is really good. Unique.
She says: Very crunchy outside and soft inside. Really yummy. You have to dip in the sauce that is served with it. So delicious. We wanted to order another round after that but of course we didn't lah. We didn't only have this as a side dish. HAHAH!

Ah Soon Kor Har Mee at Sim Kin San Coffeeshop, Rangoon Road, Penang

Working days, we usually don't like purposely wake up earlier to have breakfast together but nowadays, we are kinda doing it once in a while. It starts our day really nicely. To have breakfast and also to see each other's face of course :)

Since we didn't want to like wake up super early, we decided to makan around our office area. We decided to eat hokkien mee at this corner coffeeshop along Rangoon Road.

Famous for its extra ingredients like prawn mantis and roasted pork belly, he sells until it's finished.

One large bowl of hokkien mee please thank you.

Har Mee aka as Hokkien Mee/Prawn Mee - RM6.00 for large
with roasted pork belly, pork ribs and prawn mantis.
He says: Ohhhmm.. The soup is sweet and tasty! This dish comes along with the BIG 3 dish that compliments hokkien mee. Siu-bak, bak kut, & prawn mantis!
She says: I like this hokkien mee. The soup is very prawn-ish which is a very good compliment. The ingredients inside made this breakfast even better. Spoon licking good this one for sure. For sure will go there eat again!

Yame Green Tea Ice Cream Wafer at Shojikiya, Gurney Paragon Mall, Penang

We recently saw a friend's Instagram photo of a green tea ice cream wafer and my gosh, it looks so good! We found out that we could get our handson this goodness at Shojikiya (The Japanese Food Specialty Store) and Gurney Paragon mall happens to have Shojikiya!

We don't go to the Gurney Paragon Mall that often and when we finally did step inside the mall, that was the first place that she wanted to go to look for the ice cream.

We walked in and immediately went to the freezer and eyes started searching. He searched around and saw this one but mentioned that it costs around RM16! So, we almost just wanna drop the idea of tasting it until a lady who works there, came and pointed at a corner, that buy any of 2 ice cream products and it's only RM11!

So, we asked if this green tea ice cream wafer is also having the promotion. She said no and we were like whispering to ourselves that it's actually too expensive to spend RM16 for an ice cream wafer. Seriously, the most expensive ice cream (don't mention Haagen Daaz or Baskin Robbins) is RM9.80! You can read about it here!

Anyways, she heard us and immediately said, "Oh no no. This one *points to the one we wanted* is only RM6.90!

Straight happy!

It's quite a huge wafer with green tea ice cream inside. ONLY RM6.90!
He says: Hahaha. Better than I expected it to be! The green tea ice cream is just right, neither too sweet nor bitter. Just nice. Would go back for that!
She says: LOVE THIS DESSERT! The green tea ice cream has that authentic green tea taste and not like flavoring kind. It's not that sweet. It actually has some bitter taste to it, which makes me love it even more. One more thing I really love about this green tea ice cream wafer is I won't have like 2-second-toothache on my front teeth when I bite the ice cream. First layer is the wafer ma of course lah right? And the wafer is not that thick, ice cream is fully packed in there. OH YUMS TO THE MAX! Love this so much I wanna stock this at home!

Famous Chicken Leg Lor Mee at Medan Selera Taman Free School, Jalan Terengganu, Penang

One of the places that we now like to go is Medan Selera Taman Free School. SO many choices to eat and also, it was both our place of growing up.

Did you know that, when growing up, she was taken care of by her grandparents while her parents work on the second floor of a flat there? Guess who was on the first floor, same flat, with his babysitter!

I KNOW RIGHT!

Anyways, being here brings back so many memories. The food, some still the same and some has changed.

And our all-time favorite still remains.

The ever famous lor mee!

You can either sit inside the food court or by the 'garden'! So romantic and no need spend so much money. It's budget-ly romantic :)

When it comes to this lor me, there is no such thing as sharing. Haha.
He says: BEST in Penang for me! Go try it then you'll know. =) Served hot and spicy! For chicken leg haters, you have to try it here.. u might change your mind after that!
She says: Big one for me please and no chicken leg! So, they always add eggs for me. Super yummy. The 'lor' is so full of taste and not to sticky and thick. Not watery also. Then, the chilli paste makes it even better. Favorite lahh! Literally finger chopstick and spoon licking good.

Lai Xiang Bak Kut Teh at BB Cafe (behind Suntech Building), Penang

April is here! Unfortunately, haze is also here..

Penang has been hit by what we would like to call, EXTREME SUMMER. It means no rain for such a ong time already and when it does rain for a day or two, we became instantaneously happy!

She have always feel that bak kut teh is only great when it's raining, but nope. Not that night when we decided to have them on quite a hot night, before two rounds of bowling with buddies.

Somehow, eating by the side of the road makes it nicer eh. It's like very hawker style and Penang-ish. Haha.

It's beside the BB Cafe, by the road. You can drive towards Suntech Building and take a right turn once you pass the building, then you'll see it there.

Anyways, it was such a good meal under the stars, literally :)

Bak kut teh for three people please :)
He says: Look at that. This was my first time here. She brought me here saying this place serves one of the best bah kut teh! and yeah.. it could be one of the best.. The bah kut teh essence is really kao!
She says: First spoonful of soup into my mouth and I immediately smiled from one ear to the other. The taste and smell of herbs were strong yet not too much of it. Just ngam-ngam. Commenting on it now makes me want to have that for dinner tonight! Ahhh.

Deep fried beancurd with slices of cucumber and onion, topped with thai chilli sauce.
He says: Thumbs up for this. Could be better but it is good!
She says: The beancurd was a bit cold when served. The thai chilli sauce goes really well with the vegetables. If it was served hot, it would be best already!

Chicken Rice at Jalan Atas at Nibong Tebal, Penang

HELLO! HELLO!

Wow. The last time we posted anything here was LAST MONTH!

March has been a crazy busy month for the both of us, hence the dead-blog for a while. Ahhh. Feels good to be back here to our baby.

We were not able to spend so much time together this month as we both are so caught with work etc. Okay okay. You did not come here to read about our mundane working life.

Here it goes! CHICKEN RICE AT NIBONG TEBAL.

Who seriously says that there's nothing to eat here? You just gotta find cleverly. Hahaha.

Have fun you guys! :)

The last time we went to Nibong Tebal, we ate a few other things that you can find them here and here and here and here.

We also decided to try out the chicken and pork rice. Well, we are quite a huge bunch of young people who's always hungry I guess.

So many good things to eat when you're at Nibong Tebal. You just gotta know where to find them. That's why you're reading us now :))

The stall is located in the middle of the nameless coffeeshop.

Green chilli sauce. Good stuff.

Cantonese style barbequed pork aka char siew / Roasted chicken rice.
He says: Yummy! Kinda hard to find this kind of chicken rice now.. The sauce is not too seet nor too salty. Not bad :)
She says: The gravy on top of the rice is sweet and sticky. Very yummy. The char siew is very soft and it tasted like any normal char siew would. I like it because it's really soft. The roasted chicken is normal. Overall, quite a yummy dish.
